Netflix publishes various top 10 rankings every week, showing what is most watched on the streaming platform and what is particularly popular with fans around the world. And most recently, of course, the fantasy series “The Sandman” repeatedly led this ranking. But that is no longer the case. With a total of 53.79 million watched hours in its fourth week, the fantasy series is still immensely popular, but has now been overtaken.
Because although the mini-series “Echoes” consists of only seven episodes with an average length of about 45 minutes, it has now become the most-watched series on the streaming service in its second week. According to Netflix, a whopping 68.49 million hours came together here.
The thriller series stars Michelle Monaghan in a dual role. The twin sisters Leni and Gina have been secretly sharing a life for years. But when one disappears, the existence of the other collapses too. What happened? And what does husband Jack (Matt Bomer) know about it?
In many parts of the world it has long been a phenomenon following in the footsteps of “Squid Game”: The Korean lawyer series “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” collected a whopping 53.89 million hours in its eighth (!) week, just slightly more than “The Sandman”. While the series is now gradually being discovered in many countries around the world, which contributes to the fact that it is such a mega long-running hit, it continues to run completely under the radar in Germany. This is where Netflix forgoes a German dubbing, which is still important for many streaming customers.
We are sure that “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” will also inspire many people in this country. The focus is on the young lawyer Woo Young Woo (Park Eun-bin). Because she has Asperger’s Syndrome, everyday interactions are not always easy for her. But thanks to her high IQ, her unusual memory skills and her creative thinking in the courtroom, she is an absolute genius…
In Germany, on the other hand, the very latest Netflix series success is already a success and is gaining ground in the top 10: With 53.39 million accumulated hours in the second week of evaluation, the Mexican production “Glowing Fire” is still just behind “The Sandman”, but in contrast to the US production it has an upward trend.
And above all, the series has an advantage that could ensure that it stays up there longer: Netflix released 39 episodes between 30 and 45 minutes in length in one fell swoop. Very few are likely to be completely through with it.
An exciting thriller story is told in “Glowing Fire”: Poncho (Iván Amozurrutia) wants to find out who killed his brother. His trail leads to serial killer Ricardo (Eduardo Capetillo), who has just been released from prison, and a fire station. Poncho sneaks undercover into the fire department to find out what’s going on there… and meets Ricardo of all people there, who supposedly wants to start a new life and even protests his innocence because of the old deeds…
