The Xbox Series S also backwards compatible with... the PS2

PS2 emulation on Xbox has always been problematic. Besides his illegality, texture issues, and frame rate issues always made for an uninspiring experience. Now on Xbox Series the problem is visibly solved thanks to the XBSX2 application. We want as proof of this a video of Modern-Vintage Gamer available on YoutTube which shows its qualities.

An effective emulator on Xbox Series but still illegal

An older emulator called RetroArch already used the core PCSX2 application, but it had a lot of problems with the image dimensions. They’ve since been resolved with a standalone app that features internal resolution scaling, letting you play games at native PS2, 1080p, and even 4k resolution. Although the latter is clearly not recommended for the Xbox Series S lack of power.

You can see how it all works in the video presentation above. Which means that if you have the right tools (Xbox Series, etc.), you can play everything from classic Xbox to classic PlayStation titles on a single machine, at higher resolutions and frame rates than native. In short, a little retro-gamer’s dream.

Nevertheless, it is important to note that all this is done by the community only and that this remains of course illegal. If you are interested, you will therefore have to manage on your own, but do not count on us to give you links or installation instructions.
