In 2018, in Mia and the White Lion, Gilles de Maistre recounted the unique relationship between a lion and a teenage girl. The French director now invites a second predator in the equation of his new film The Wolf and the Lion, to be discovered in theaters on October 13. A story of friendship between a young girl and two animals that everything opposes, and yet!
Played by Molly Kunz, a 20-year-old pianist returns to her childhood home after her grandfather’s death. In this lost place on a desert island in Canada, everything changes when a wolf cub and a lion cub in distress appear in his life. Alma chooses to keep them in order to save them, and the unlikely happens: they grow up together and love each other as brothers. But their ideal world collapses when their secret is discovered …
Shot in Canada over a two-year period, this family adventure features real animals without special effects supervised by animal coordinator specializing in wolves and dogs Andrew Simpson (The Last Wolf, Game of Thrones) and his team. Thanks to the length of the shooting, viewers have the pleasure of seeing the film’s two four-legged heroes grow up on screen.
