When you look at Jackass, whether it’s in the form of a series or a movie, there’s one thing that keeps coming back to you: “That must have hurt like hell!”. “Jackass Forever”, the now cinema release that nobody really expected anymore, now drives the pain level not only for the team in front of the camera, but also for the viewers* to the absolute peak. “Jackass” was never harder – and not better either!
If you missed “Jackass Forever” in the cinema and are eagerly awaiting a home cinema evaluation, then the wait is now over. Since May 26, 2022, the self-destructive stunt show with Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Wee Man and Co. has finally been available as a paid VoD on Amazon Prime Video. Those who prefer to put the film on their shelves at home will have to wait a little longer, because the Blu-ray and DVD will not be released until June 9th:

The opening sequence of “Jackass Forever” alone clearly shows that “Jackass” has finally arrived in cinemas. Because after “Jackass 3.0” was able to come up with an almost groundbreaking use of slow motion, the fourth part begins with an action-packed homage to traditional monster cinema.
Here we see a Godzilla-style monster rampaging through a small town. On closer inspection, however, it becomes clear that the monster was not hand-made – it is Chris Pontius’ penisportrayed here as a destructive beast by Her creator Spike Jonze.
In any case, “Jackass Forever” increases the number of hits in terms of painful and hellishly unpleasant stunts in contrast to its predecessors immensely. And penises are not neglected – be careful. In the official DashFUN review, “Jackass Forever” earned a strong 4 out of a possible 5 stars. Editor-in-Chief Christoph Petersen describes the film as “genital fire‘ and proceeds as follows:
“They grab their faces, puke all over them, pour gallons of pig semen over them and shit in their pants – and (almost) always with a bang. At the same time, the spiral of pain continues to increase – from Ehren McGhehey’s genital protection test, which failed four times grandiosely, to a re-enactment of Johnny Knoxville’s legendary collision with an angry bull, which this time ends in multiple fractures and a concussion.“
So you’ve got to have a tough skin to get through “Jackass Forever” – writhing on the sofa uncomfortably is at least part of it. But if you just can’t get enough of the Chaos squad, Netflix already has the next chapter ready for you with “Jackass 4.5”. As tradition dictates, each part comes with a small expansion showing unreleased scenes as well as alternate shots of the stunts.
In the case of “Jackass 4.5”, however, it is a mixture of unused scenes and a kind of making-of, in which those responsible in front of and behind the camera comment on the shooting and show again how they found the new crew members and how complicated the shooting was due to the corona restrictions. The film is definitely a must-see for Jackass fans!
