In “Für Jojo” we meet Paula (Caro Cult) and Jojo (Nina Gummich) – best friends for ages and seemingly inseparable. They came to Berlin years ago, where they enjoy their lives as independent single women to the fullest – fun and lots of hot guys included. But then Jojo falls in love with Daniel (Steven Sowah), an old acquaintance from her hometown. The new couple decides to move back there and build a future together.
At the thought of having to go through everyday life in the capital without her soul mate, Paula feels offended, downright devastated. She does everything she can to stop Jojo from planning her wedding, which she believes is potentially the biggest mistake in her friend’s life. In doing so, they risk destroying their incredibly close relationship once and for all…
The mix of coming-of-age comedy and friendship drama celebrated its world premiere on June 24, 2022 as part of the Munich Film Festival. On July 11, 2022, “For Jojo” will start worldwide on the Netflix streaming service.
“For Jojo” was filmed in Berlin and on Sylt, as well as on the Danish Wadden Sea island of Rømø, just three kilometers from the German North Sea holiday paradise. Barbara Ott (“Kids Run”), who directed the script written by “Cleo” screenwriter Stefanie Ren, was in the director’s chair.
The two friends who are in a clinch are played by Caro Cult and Nina Gummich. Those from series hits like “Babylon Berlin” and “Biohackers” well-known Hanoverian Cult can currently still be seen in German cinemas with “Immenhof 2 – The Great Promise”.
Nina Gummrich, who was born in Leipzig, had her most popular TV parts to date in “Charité”, “BEAT” and the ZDF crime series “Theresa Wolff”. In the cinema she was in “Toubab” and the great “Atlas”. Steven Sowah from “The Specialists – In the Name of the Victims” embodies the role of the man who got between the two women in “For Jojo”.
