Before – maybe – seeing Connie again next week, episode 5 of the final season of The Walking Dead revealed the tear-reunion between Yumiko and her brother Tomi. A sequence of rare emotion, while the horror series has so far rather accustomed us to bloody kills and heartbreaking farewells.
Fans of the comic book will certainly remember it, this passage also exists in the original work. However, changes have been made to the series, as the protagonists involved in this scene have changed identities.
In volume 30 of the comic book signed Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard, Michonne (who has never gone in search of Rick Grimes, since he has never disappeared) joins the Commonwealth to find his daughter Elodie, whom she had not seen since the beginning of the apocalypse when her ex-husband had taken her by force.
As for the series, since it was impossible to make Michonne appear, it was ultimately Yumiko who was at the heart of this remarkable sequence; as we had been told for several episodes, the young woman was able to find her brother Tomi, also a pastry chef in the Commonwealth.
Despite this change of characters, the sequence nevertheless remains very faithful, almost twinned, to the drawn version, as evidenced by the comparison above. As a reminder, the episodes of The Walking Dead season 11 are offered every Monday exclusively US + 24 on OCS Choc.
