“The Tragedy of MacBeth”, the brand new film by Ethan Coen with Denzel Washington is revealed in pictures in a first totally hypnotic teaser.
The Tragedy of Macbeth : the new film by Joel Coen
These first images promise a totally crazy film. Adapted from William Shakespeare’s iconic novel, The Tragedy of Macbeth is the new film by Joel Coen. The latter signs with this new work his first solo feature film. Indeed, his little brother, Ethan Coen recently retired to devote himself full time to another of his passions: writing.. A novelist in his spare time, he decided to put aside the cameras to fully embark on his profession as a novelist.
Long credited solo on all of their tandem feature films, Joel Coen has however directed most of his films with his brother, which was credited from Ladykillers in 2004. Thus, The Tragedy of Macbeth is a dive into the deep end. This time Joel Coen is really on his own to direct this new adaptation of MacBeth. In front of the camera, he surrounds himself with a four-star cast including Denzel Washington in the main role, Frances McDormand (his muse and his wife in real life) or Brendan Gleeson.
An intriguing first trailer
The Tragedy of Macbeth is expected on January 14 on the Apple TV + platform. The film is shot entirely in black and white, a process that the filmmaker had already experimented with in The Barber: The Man Who Wasn’t There. In addition to the presence of Joel Coen behind the camera, The Tragedy of Macbeth has another argument that will appeal to moviegoers. Indeed, the film is produced by studio A24. A production company that has offered stunning works in the past such as Heredity, 90’s, The Lighthouse or The Green Knight. Shortly, A24 will also distribute C’mon C’mon, the next film in which Joaquin Phoenix will appear. In any case the first images of The Tragedy of Macbeth promise an aesthetically mind-blowing work. And whatever it is, a date with Joel Coen always bodes well.
