Christophe Gans will direct a new film “Silent Hill”. The filmmaker and Konami gave concrete information on the story which will be an adaptation of the second game of the franchise.
Christophe Gans is preparing a new nightmare
silent Hill (2006), directed by Christopher Gansis an adaptation of the eponymous video game, a survivor horror creepy released on Playstation in 1999. If the feature film has innumerable qualities, mainly visual (Gans has transcribed the scary atmosphere of the game well), this is less the case with Silent Hill: Revelation (2012), directed it by MJ Bassett. Since then, we hoped that one day Christophe Gans would come back to tackle a new film silent Hill. And the good news finally arrived last June.
It is on the occasion of the re-release in theaters of the pact of wolves in 4K than the director entrusted us with working on a new silent Hill. Stating that it was a new story with new characters, but still in the town of Silent Hill. His idea being to take up the anthological concept of the games. So, don’t expect to see the characters of Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean, or even Jodelle Ferland, who wore the first film.

Several months have passed and the good news continues for this next one silent Hill. On the night of October 19 to 20, 2022, the video game publisher Konami made a series of announcements about the franchise. In particular, on the games side, a remake of Silent Hill 2 or even a new titled game Silent Hill f. But above all, the studio directly mentioned the next film which will therefore the title of Return to Silent Hill.
Return to Silent Hilladapted from Silent Hill 2
In a teaser video (in one article), Christophe Gans himself appears to recall the success of the first film before saying more about the story of the next one, which will be neither more nor less thanan adaptation of the second game!
This is Silent Hill 2. The film tells the story of a young man who returns to Silent Hill, where he met a great love. And what he discovers there will be a pure nightmare.
The filmmaker goes on to talk about how “the creators completely changed the rules for this game“.
So we’re back in Silent Hill, in the same town, but we’re looking at this strange world from the point of view of the hero we’re playing. We realize that Mary has disappeared somewhere in this strange place.
In addition to Christophe Gans, the producer Victor Hadida (already behind the first film) also intervenes by evoking him the myth of Orpheus as inspiration, and “how far a man can go, in the depths of hell, to bring back to life the person he loves the most“.
Clearly, all of this is a very good omen. Even more so with the support “100%” of Konami and the desire of Gans to modernize Silent Hill 2 while remaining very faithful. And this will go through the creaturesincluding the announced return of Pyramid Head, accompanied by surprises…
Return to Silent Hill is on track but should not not out before 2023.
