Like almost all superhero movies, “The Suicide Squad” contains a bonus in the form of a post-credits scene. And this one teases one of the future projects of DC.
WARNING – The article below contains spoilers, since it returns to the denouement of “The Suicide Squad” and discusses its post-credits scene. So please go your way if you haven’t seen the film yet.
James Gunn had warned, and producer Charles Roven reminded us: don’t get too attached to the characters of The Suicide Squad. Because no one is immune. The opening sequence reminds us very quickly, and the rest of the feature film is in tune with this bloody entry. Even when you think that some members of the squad are on course to stay alive.
Like Peacemaker, played by John Cena, who tries to overtake his comrades to help quell the actions of the American government on the island of Corto Maltese. Unfortunately for him, Bloodsport (Idris Elba) is quicker in their face-to-face, and he joins the long list of corpses in the film. At least we believe it for a few minutes. Until the post-credits scene.
It takes place in a hospital, and it is about a person who was thought to be dead but who ultimately survived: Peacemaker. Which is, in the end, only a half-surprise. Because it was already announced that John Cena, who had bluffed everyone on the set of The Suicide Squad, would resume his role in a series for HBO Max. But the latter could have been just a prequel. If flashbacks on his first steps are not to be excluded, it will therefore mainly be a sequel in which he will fulfill secret missions for his new employers.
Supervised by James Gunn, Peacemaker will also see Steve Agee and Jennifer Holland reprise their respective roles of John Economos and Emilia Harcourt amid new faces. Including Freddie Stroma (Harry Potter 6 & 7), Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black) and Robert Patrick, the ex-T-1000 from Terminator 2.
While filming is already finished, no broadcast date has been announced for the moment, but it could come around the US release of The Suicide Squad on Friday August 6.
