In 2010, James Gandolfini and Edie Falco made a short film reprising their roles from the series “The Sopranos”. The little film was intended … for basketball player LeBron James!

What follows reveals the end of the series “The Sopranos”, continue reading at the risk of spoiling the surprise.
The Sopranos met a few years after the final season of the HBO show for the needs of a short film intended to recruit a famous basketball player in a team no less famous.
Three years after the end of the cult series, James Gandolfini and Edie Falco took over their roles as Tony and Carmela Soprano for the needs of a small video intended for LeBron James. At the time, the basketball player was for sale, and each team was fighting for it.
In order to convince him, the New York Knicks decide to put the small dishes in the big ones and hire the two actors to shoot a small film. Edie Falco remember :
(…) What fascinates me is that I did not know who LeBron James was. We were asked these kinds of things all the time and Jim Gandolfini never accepted.

HBO
Edie Falco as Carmela Soprano (extract from season 2)
I don’t know why he accepted this time, I was in shock. When I was told he was going to do it, I thought it was a joke.
The 10-minute short film was shot in James Gandolfini’s New York apartment. We find Tony Soprano there, apparently alive and on probation. A situation that takes part vis-à-vis the open end of the series, which could imply that the gangster, injured, has a chance to succumb to his injuries.
But that fans are reassured, this short film is not “canon” since it is about an advertising spot.
What is the death that has traumatized us the most in the series?
We do not know any more because Edie Falco did not give other details, the only certainty is that the film was not enough to convince LeBron James to join the New York Knicks, since he finally left to play for the Miami Heat.
Unfortunately for the fans, this little film is for the moment invisible and could remain so forever.
