Expected for 2022 on Netflx, the series “The Sandman” adapts one of the successful comics of the author Neil Gaiman. The first images were unveiled during the platform’s virtual event, Tudum.
After American Gods, it’s another work of Neil Gaiman which sees the light of day on the small screen: The Sandman. First published in 1989, this comic book series follows the fate of Dream, the very embodiment of the dream, held captive by mortals for over a century. While he finally finds his freedom, he will have to restore order in his kingdom.
For several years now, many producers have tried, in vain, to bring graphic novels to the screen. Sandman by Neil Gaiman. If film adaptations have been considered, it is on the serial format that the author’s characters will come to life. At the helm of the first season, we find Allan Heinberg, screenwriter of the first part of Wonder woman directed by Patty Jenkins.
On the casting side, the British Tom Sturridge (Good Morning England) plays the title role and Gwendoline Christie (Game Of Thrones, Star wars) plays Lucifer. Vivienne Acheampong (Sacred Witches), Boyd Holbrook (The Predator, Beckett), Charles Dance (Game Of Thrones) and David Thewlis (Harry potter) complete the distribution.
A very first teaser was unveiled on the occasion of the Tudum event, initiated by the streaming platform this Saturday, September 25. First proposed to HBO, which refused the project, the series will finally land on Netflix in 2022.
