Essential fig of the saga Harry Potter, Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) has died at the age of 72. Fans of the films are grieving, as are his partners, who have highlighted the talent and kindness of the man. The three young actors and sorcerer’s apprentices he took under his wing from “Harry Potter at the school of wizards”, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe have each wanted to pay tribute to him.
Robbie Coltrane has left us
He was a giant. Finally, a half-giant if we want to be precise about his role in the saga Harry Potterthe one who made him famous and adored all around the world: Rubeus Hagrid. Died October 14, 2022 At 72, Robbie Coltrane has definitely put away his Hagrid costume, Hogwarts figure and faithful ally of Harry, Ron and Hermione. Like Alan Rickman with Severus Rogues, he was able to make the half-giant imagined and written by JK Rowling entirely his own, to make it an unforgettable movie character.

His death, which occurred amid mounting health concerns, shocked millions of film fans Harry Potter, as well as film professionals. The latter hailed an actor of great talent, but also a man of infinite sensitivity and deep kindness. The three actors Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), who started the cinema with him and rubbed shoulders with him for ten years and eight films, also paid tribute to him. No doubt aware that, without Robbie Coltrane, the adventure Harry Potter would not have been the same.
Rupert Grint: “No one else on this planet could have played Hagrid, only Robbie.”
Without Hagrid, Harry, Hermione and Ron would not have been able to integrate so easily at Hogwarts, and above all would not have been able to repeatedly defeat Voldemort and his Death Eaters. Guardian, teacher, friend and confidant, the character embodied by Robbie Coltrane took the sympathy and respect of all. On Instagram, Rupert Grint said he was very touched by his disappearance, remembering his unique presence and his kindness.
I’m heartbroken to hear that Robbie is gone. I’ll never forget the smell of cigars mixed with the glue from his beard – a wonderful combination. No one else on this planet could have played Hagrid, only Robbie.
Much like Hagrid is in the books and movies, Robbie was warm, sensitive, and hilarious. A man with a big heart who took care of us, even a decade later. All my thoughts to his family. See you on the other side Bobser.
Emma Watson she posted in story on Instagram a message with a personal accent.
Robbie was like the funniest uncle you could have, but most of all, he was deeply caring and sensitive to me, as a child and then as an adult. His talent was so immense that it made sense for him to play a giant – he could fill any space with his talent.
Robbie, if I ever manage to be as nice as you were to me, on a set, I promise you that I will be in your name and in your memory. Know how much I adore and admire you. I already miss your kindness, your nicknames, your warmth, your laughter and your hugs. You made us a family. There has never been a better Hagrid. You made my role as Hermione a joy.
Daniel Radcliffe says he’s ‘incredibly lucky’
It is not on social networks but via a press release sent to Deadline that actor Daniel Radcliffe, holder of the role ofHarry Potter, also paid a moving tribute to Robbie Coltrane. Of the three young actors who form the trio of sorcerer’s apprentices, it is obviously Daniel Radcliffe who had the most scenes shared with Robbie Coltrane.
Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve met, constantly making us laugh on set. I have great memories of him cheering us up on The Prisoner of Azkaban, when we would take refuge in his hut to shelter for hours from the pouring rain, he would tell us stories and jokes.
I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to meet and work with him, I am very saddened by his passing. He was an amazing actor and a lovely man.
As for Tom Felton, interpreter of the detestable Draco Malfoy, he also had touching words for Robbie Coltrane, in the caption of a photo where he appears alongside the actor, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson.
One of my favorite memories ofHarry Potter is a night shooting sequence for the first film, in the forbidden forest. I was 12 years old. Robbie looked after and cared for everyone around him. Effortlessly. And he made them laugh. Effortlessly. He…
