The Nun 2: Valak arrives in France
After Annabelle (appeared in the first Conjuring), another demon of the saga was entitled to his own film. Indeed, after appearing in Conjuring 2 in 2016, Valak alias “The Nun”, returned to our screens in 2018 in the eponymous film. It was a prequel set in the 1950s, in a Romanian abbey. The Corin Hardy-directed feature became the highest-grossing Expanded Universe Conjuringwith $365 million raised in worldwide box office.
After this great success, a suite was soon announced by Warner Bros. After several years without news, The Nun 2 eventually becomes clear.
Last May, we learned that the film would be set in France. More precisely in 1956, after the assassination of a priest, who will again confront the sister Irene with the terrible demon Valak. The shooting of the film should begin in September and extend until December 2022. It is Michael Chaves, the director of the recent Conjuring 3who was chosen to direct this new horror adventure, still produced by James Wan.
Actress Bonnie Aarons will once again take on the role of The Nun. Taissa Farmiga is set to star again as sister Irene.
Release date announced!
After a pre-production that lasted more than four years, Valak’s return is now confirmed! Indeed, as revealed Bloody DisgustingWarner Bros has set the release date of The Nun 2 to September 8, 2023 in the United States (and probably September 6 of the same year in France).
It is the screenwriter Akela Cooper, who had already collaborated with James Wan on Malignant(and his new project M3gan) who wrote the screenplay for the film.
