While Marvel announces the big MCU series and films many months and years in advance and presents the first trailer at least a few months before the start, the specials produced for Disney + are apparently a little different. Even with “I’m Groot” there was less than a month between the trailer and the release.
And it’s similar now “Werewolf By Night”, which will be released on Disney+ on October 7, 2022 – to match the Halloween mood and has only now received a first preview or has been officially announced at all. And it not only comes in an old-school horror film guise, but also has a lot to offer in terms of horror and violence, especially for the MCU.
DashFUN social media manager Felix Weyers, who is currently attending the Disney D23 trade fair, where the preview celebrated its world premiere, also thinks that “Werewolf By Night” may not be for younger Marvel fans:
“Werewolf By Night” is about the eponymous character from the Marvel Comics, of which there are two different versions: Jake Russell and Jake Gomez. Both can – who would have thought it? – turn into a werewolf.
Gael García Bernal (“Amores Perros”) will star in “Werewolf By Night”, and Laura Donnelly (“The Nevers”) has also been signed – possibly as the monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone.
The director of the Halloween special is also interesting, because many will know his name: Michael Giacchino is otherwise actually more famous as a composer and was awarded an Oscar for the film music for “Oben”.
It is not yet clear when and how the Marvel werewolf will be seen in the MCU next time, but an obvious candidate would be the previously announced “Blade” film with Mahershala Ali, which will be released in German cinemas on November 1, 2023 .
