“The Little Mermaid” does not escape a passage in real shots. Disney modernizes its classic, under the leadership of Rob Marshall and with Halle Bailey as headliner. The studio has just released the first teaser for the feature film during D23.
The little Mermaid goes through the live action box
Disney has not always exhausted its catalog of classics and continues to happily draw from it to draw adaptations in live action. We are not going to come back to all those already released as there are so many of them. One of the next attempts is The little Mermaidwith Rob Marshall directing. The original cartoon tells the adventures of Ariel, a mermaid who is attracted to the world of men. A region that is forbidden to him, so as not to endanger his species. However, one day, she falls in love with a human, Prince Eric.
No revolution is expected for the scenario of this live action. The same narrative elements will be repeated as well as popular characters. Disney is trying, all the same, to take a real risk with this project since the lead role went to Halle Bailey, an actress of color. A choice that has already been widely commented on. We will see, suddenly, if the public will be at the rendezvous during the release scheduled for May 24, 2023 in French cinemas. The interested party is comfortable with singing and we ask her to push her voice because the film takes up original songs, in addition to adding some new ones.

A first teaser has arrived
The rest of the cast brings together Javier Bardem as King Triton, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Awkwafina as Eureka and the young Jacob Tremblay lends his voice to Flounder. These beautiful names are however not present in the first images broadcast during the D23. Disney took advantage of its big annual event to deliver a first teaser. For a little over a minute, we are invited to visit the seabed and then to discover Ariel. As most of the time with Disney productions, The little Mermaid has a solid formal look. However, nothing very surprising to get your teeth into. To discover more, we must now wait for a trailer which should arrive in the coming weeks.
