20th Century Studios has just confirmed that the movie “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” is getting a reboot. This new film will be released on the Hulu platform, like “Prey”, the new installment of the “Predator” saga.
What’s this The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen ?
Originally, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a British comic book series scripted by Alan Moore and drawn by Kevin O’Neill in 1999. Inscribed in the steampunk style, these comics bring together many characters from popular literature of the 19th century. Like Dr Jekyll and Mister Hyde, The Invisible Man, Dorian Gray or even Captain Nemo.
This extraordinary league is the focus of four volumes published under the America’s Best Comics label. Captain Nemo even had its own spin-off through three different volumes. Subsequently, faced with the success of the license, characters. Like Sherlock Holmes or James Bond also joined this universe.

In 2003, filmmaker Stephen Norrington wears The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen on the big screen. Produced by 20th Century Fox, the film brings together a cast dominated by the presence of the great Sean Connery as Allan Quatermain. Fox had the desire to launch an entire saga. But the feature film crashes at the box office with only $179 million in revenue. Faced with this financial failure, no other film has seen the light of day since.
A reboot is in preparation
The 20th Century Studio has just formalized launching a reboot of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. A brand new production that will take the form of a feature film for streaming on Hulu. A little like Preythe new license film predatorwhich will also end up on the American platform (and on Disney+ in France).

At the moment, not much is known about this project yet. However, Don Murphy, the producer of the 2003 version, is back for this new opus. He will be supported by producers Susan Montford and Erwin Stoff. The news was accompanied by a first synopsis which is as follows:
A team of extraordinary personalities drawn from great adventure literature (including Alan Quatermain, the vampire Mina Harker from Dracula, the Invisible Man, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, a US Secret Service agent named Sawyer, Captain Nemo and Dorian Gray), is called upon to stop a villain who intends to pit the nations of the world against each other.
There is no announced release date yet. If we follow the logic of Prey, this new version of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen should therefore be available on Disney + in France.
