The event series “L’Île aux 30 coffins” arrives on France 2. Adapted from the novel by Maurice Leblanc, this new version with Virginie Ledoyen, Charles Berling, and Stanley Weber, transports us to the mysterious island of Sarek where a terrible prophecy takes place in place…
The Island of 30 coffins: a mysterious quest
The TV mini-series The Island of 30 coffins arrives in France 2. The screenplay is based freely on the novel of the same name, written by Maurice Leblanc, published in 1919. This mysterious fantastic story had already been adopted in the past and it was Claude Jade who took on the main role. This time, the series composed of 6 episodes of 52 minutes, is worn by Virginie Ledoyen and Charles Berling. They embody Raphaël and Christine Vorski, who has been in a relationship for many years.
Christine, who is a doctor, receives on her phone a video of her delivery which took place in Sarek, the island where she grew up. She discovers with horror that her child, announced as stillborn, has been murdered. Completely devastated by this news, Christine decides to return to the island to find out who killed her son and why.
Returning to the places of her past, she will realize that a heavy atmosphere reigns and that a series of deaths stirs up terror among the inhabitants. Everyone sees her as the ominous bird.
A sizeable cast
The episodes of The Island of 30 coffins are made by Frédéric Mermoud. On the screenplay side, Elsa Marpeau and Florent Meyer were responsible for adapting this mysterious story. Alongside Virginie Ledoyen and Charles Berling, we find, Stanley Weber who plays the policeman in charge of the investigation, and also the young Jérémy Gillet, who plays Paul, closely linked to this strange story. Dominique Pinon, Noam Morgensztern, Tom RivoireAdama Niane, Marilyne Canto, Thomas Mustin, Jean-François Stévenin and Manon Valentin complete the cast.
Virginie Ledoyen appreciates the fantasy genre
This horrific thriller immerses us in a strange prophecy, on this (fictional) island of Sarek. Indeed, the agonizing atmosphere relies above all on this timeless decor and wild where are gathered inhabitants who are not at all welcoming. These repeated murders take viewers into a dark and disturbing universe. Virginie Ledoyen, the heroine of the fiction, was immediately seduced by the fantastic series and the role of Christine. She surrenders to France Info:
It’s my first fantasy series, a genre that I love because it allows you to play with codes. It’s mysterious, there’s a lot of psychology, I loved not only interpreting the character of Christine, but also being in this strange, particular universe, admittedly a little dark, but at the same time, it seems to me that it is also a strong love story.
The Island of 30 coffins, therefore, promises many twists and turns. The series airs from Monday, March 21 on France 2. It is already available in preview and in a full-on somersault.
