Guy Ritchie continues the projects and will sign his first collaboration with Jake Gyllenhaal for “The Interpreter”, an action thriller in Afghanistan which promises to explode. Find out what you need to know about this feature film set to shoot next year.
The Interpreter, what is this next Guy Ritchie film?
Jake Gyllenhaal is very active at the moment. He is showing at The Guilty on Netflix, a remake of an excellent Swedish thriller, and it will soon shine in Ambulance, the new project of the excited Michael Bay. After that, he does not intend to be unemployed since Deadline tells us that he will collaborate with Guy Ritchie for his next film. It will be an action thriller titled The Interpreter.
The actor will camp Sergeant John Kinley who is living the last moments of his service in Afghanistan. During a mission, his patrol is ambushed and everyone dies except him and Ahmed, the translator who accompanies him. He struggles to transport him to safety and save his life, while enemies are on their heels. Shortly after this incident, John returned home. However, he learns thatAhmed was not allowed to return to America with his family, although it had been promised to them beforehand. Worse, the translator and his family are in danger, chased by a local militia who want to kill them. John decides to return to Afghanistan to get them out of the woods.
A pitch that necessarily echoes the news, since the Taliban took over the country and forced the soldiers to leave the place. Guy Ritchie came up with the idea following discussions with soldiers and interpreters, who collaborate at the front and forge bonds in pain.
Knowing the director, this will obviously give rise to a moment of cinema where the action takes precedence. Jake Gyllenhaal has already appeared in a film related to the war, in the successful Jarhead: The End of Innocence. The filming of The Interpreter will start at the beginning of 2022, on the side of Spain. It is also during this period that will come out Operation Fortune: Ruse of War in theaters, Guy Ritchie’s other upcoming film, starring Jason Statham, about an MI6 agent chasing a dangerous arms dealer.
