It has just been announced as the closing film of the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival. “L’Innocent” by Louis Garrel is revealed in a trailer unveiled by Ad Vitam.
A story of robbery and escape
Actor and filmmaker Louis Garrel is no longer at his first production. Next October, he will release his fourth feature film as a director.entitled The Innocent. Always working with quality actors, he collaborates this time with Roschdy Zem, Anouk Grinberg and Noémie Merlant.
As with his previous works, Louis Garrel is the own screenwriter of his film. He is also the actor, and plays the leading role in this detective comedy. Here is the official synopsis: When Abel learns that his mother Sylvie, in her sixties, is about to marry a man in prison, he panics. Supported by Clémence, his best friend, he will do everything to try to protect her. But the meeting with Michel, his new father-in-law, could well offer Abel new perspectives…
Louis Garrel departs from the capital
For The Innocent, Louis Garrel moves away from Paris and his Parisian side that sticks to his skin. He explains in the press kit which he shot in the city of Lyon, which marks a new universe for him:
I no longer wanted to be in Paris. For the story but also in relation to what I convey as an actor, very marked as Parisian. I wanted to get out of that to help the viewer enter a different universe through my character. I really wanted to go for an escape film to bring a picaresque adventure to life, with a taste for romance and comedy.
Featured in the movie My Wife’s Story released in March 2022 with Léa Seydoux, Louis Garrel continues to show himself on the big screen. From July 13, he will star in Woody Allen’s new film entitled Rifkin’s Festival.
As it concerns The Innocent, it will go through the Francophone Film Festival of Angoulême (which takes place from August 23 to 28, 2022) as the closing film and will arrive next October 12 at the cinema.
