After causing fainting and vomiting in the United States, the horror film “Terrifier 2” will be released in French theaters. To believe the returns on the film, it will be necessary to have the heart well hung.
Terrify 2the stomach-churning horror movie
Lately, low-budget horror movies have managed to stand out and get a lot of buzz. We think first of all of the excellent X by Ti West (released in French theaters on November 2, 2022) and its prequel Pearl who would have terrorized Martin Scorsese. More recently it is Terrify 2 who saw his hype grow. Indeed, shortly after its release in the United States, several spectators shared their experience by highlighting that some would have passed out and that others would have vomited at the cinema.

It was enough for us to be interested in it. Because, without that, not sure that Damien Leone’s feature film would have intrigued an audience other than fans of the genre. Terrify 2 being a niche horror movie, produced with a miniscule budget (about 250,000 dollars) for a result that is clearly not intended to reach the general public. Despite everything, the film has managed to attract enough in the United States to bring in so far almost eight million dollars.
Nothing impressive for a classic blockbuster, but a very significant score for this kind of production. Incidentally, the director confessed (via Variety) that he did not expect such a success.
Honestly, I didn’t expect to hit theaters like this and be in more than a few arthouses.
For once, word of mouth has had its effect. And even beyond America, since Terrify 2 will be released in France.
A bloody end to the year
It was through a press release that we learned that the Shadowz platform and ESC Films had teamed up to release the film here. Remember that the distributor had already had the good idea to release the ultra violent The Sadness (see our review).
Damien Leone’s event film, dubbed by Stephen King himself, and which exploded the American box office in the middle of the Halloween season, hits the big screen in France on December 28 to the delight of horror fans and thrills! It is both the birth of a new horror franchise, but also that of a new icon of American horror cinema, like Freddy, It, Jason Voorhees or Michael Myers: say hello to Art le Clown !
Remember that the film features the killer, Art the Clown, who embarks on a hunt to murder young Sienna (Lauren LaVera) on Halloween night. While the first opus of 2017 has never reached us, Terrifier 2 will therefore be available from December 28 to end the year well. We will then see if behind what looks like the Z series, hides a real surprise, and if the horror is there to the point of making us send back our lunch.
