We haven’t seen him in a feature film for a while, but he will be back in the spotlight very soon: Ryan Gosling is the star of the action-spy thriller “The Gray Man” by the Russo brothers. An ambitious production that is revealed in a very generous first trailer in action.
The Gray Manthe bet of the Russo brothers
After their historic success Avengers :Endgame and the much less successful Cherryit was on Netflix that Anthony and Joe Russo took over production for The Gray Man. A spy thriller carried by Ryan Gosling, in which we also find Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Wagner Moura and Regé-Jean Page. Some prestigious names from a cast that includes others, including Billy Bob Thornton. A testimony to the great ambition of this production, intended to open a new action franchise. We were therefore impatiently awaiting the first trailer (at the top of the article), to finally find out what show would be offered.
The synopsis announces a classic but effective plot : ” Gray Man is the code name of CIA agent Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling), aka Sierra Six. Recruited from federal prison by his case officer, Donald Fitzroy (Billy Bob Thornton), Gentry was once a fearsome CIA hitman. But the situation has radically changed: Gentry is now the target of Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), a former sidekick in the CIA, totally determined to track him down around the world to eliminate him. Agent Dani Miranda (Ana de Armas) has his back — and he’s going to need it.
Ryan Gosling, as strong as an Avenger
These first images focus on the hero of The Gray Man, a fearsome hitman which becomes the prey of a hunt which will be deployed in several countries – we recognize in particular Prague. Sharp as ever, Ryan Gosling sows chaos around him, armed and with bare hands. And there’s going to be action on the ground and in the air. His main adversary Lloyd Hansen, is played by Chris Evans, and their relationship seems to hold as many clashes as tongue-in-cheek punchlines. This is the first time that the two actors have collaborated. Their antagonistic duo will be one of the main attractions of The Gray Man.
Ana de Armas, who proved to be formidable with a gun in hand in Dying can wait, also shows that she did not come to make up the numbers. She plays Agent Dani Miranda in an announced role as an ally to Court Gentry. But as Lloyd Hansen suggests, reversals of situation are to be expected…
