The live-action remake of the Disney classic “Pinocchio” has only just been released on Disney+, and the promotion drum for the next live-action adaptation of a popular cartoon adventure from the mouse house is already rolling. The eagerly awaited new edition of “Arielle, the mermaid” will not end up directly with the streaming service, but in theaters on May 25, 2023 come.

However, the plot should – as recently with “Pinocchio” – be based very much on the Oscar-winning template, in which the eponymous mermaid falls in love with the human prince Eric (played by Jonah Hauer-King in the remake) and with the evil sea witch Ursula (Melissa McCarthy ) trades her angelic voice for a pair of legs to be with him – with devastating results.

And some of the well-known cult songs will also find their way into the new “Arielle”. It is not without reason that newcomer Halle Bailey, a leading actress with singing experience, was hired. In the original version of the trailer below, we also hear her perform the touching “To Be Human” herself with her beautiful voice, which should give goosebumps to many fans of the original.
