Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman once again star in ‘The Downfall of the President’, the third installment in the action franchise centered on hero Mike Banning. A project that the Oscar-winning actor of “Million Dollar Baby” has accepted above all for financial reasons, as he admitted during the promotion.

In 2019, after The White House fall and The Fall of London, Gerard Butler takes over the role of Mike Banning in a third installment. An opus in which he finds Morgan Freeman, who succeeds Aaron Eckhart as President of the United States.
The Head of State’s bodyguard is considering leaving the field for a quieter position at the start of The Fall of the President, because of his recurrent insomnia and excruciating migraines. His plans are disrupted when Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman) nearly getting murdered. An attack of which Banning quickly becomes the main suspect. Tracked down and understanding that he is the victim of a plot, the hero tries to disappear and find out who trapped him. To avoid being spotted, he has no choice but to ask his father Clay (Nick Nolte), a Vietnam veteran from whom he has been estranged for many years, for help.
Piper Perabo, Danny Huston, Lance Reddick, Jada Pinkett Smith and Tim Blake Nelson complete the cast of the feature film directed by Ric Roman Waugh (Infiltrate). One year later The Fall of the Presidentthe director and Gerard Butler team up again for the disaster film Greenland.

After Deep Impact, Morgan Freeman again lends his features to an American president in this third episode of the muscular trilogy centered on Mike Banning. During the promotion of the project, the comedian admits in all sincerity that he has no not accepted to participate for love of politics and stunts. This is the third film in a franchise, it pays better than the first. I’m in a successful franchise, I work with a guy that I really admire and appreciate. It’s perfect.
Questioned in the wake of his passion for cinema and for the game, Morgan Freeman assures us that he always takes pleasure in working. The actor, then 82 years old, recognizes however that the stakes are not the same at this stage of his career.
