The shooting of “The Expendables 4” has finally started! Sylvester Stallone and his band of big arms will therefore return for a new round of the track, more than seven years after the release of the third opus.
Expendables 4 : what we know about the project
The first opus of the saga Expendables released in 2010. Directed by Sylvester Stallone himself, the concept is simple: bring together all the big arms of American action cinema of the 1980s – 1990s. While the cast is made up of actors such as Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the film is a success and spawned two sequels. In all, the trilogy Expendables, which welcomes newcomers along the way (such as Jean-Claude Van Damme, Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes or even Chuck Norris) brings in more than $ 800 million at the box office.
And since the fans ask for more, Sylvester Stallone has decided to launch the production of a fourth installment. While the project took longer than expected (especially because of the COVID crisis); the film is finally moving up a gear! This time, filmmaker Scott Waugh is in charge of directing Expendables 4, based on a screenplay by Spenser Cohen. Along with the return of the original cast, this new episode also adds comedians 50 Cent, Megan Fox, Andy Garcia and Tony Jaa to the cast.
Beginning of filming for the big team!
ScreenDaily announced that the shooting ofExpendables 4 started on September 29. It should go through many countries like Bulgaria and Greece. JJ Nugent, Vice President of Sales and International Distribution at Millennium Media said:
The Expendables continues to be one of Millennium’s most successful franchises to date. Along with our partners around the world, we could not be more excited to launch this fourth installment. Great action movies continue to be the essence of the cinematic experience. We are incredibly honored to be able to bring films like this and many more to fans around the world.
It must be said that this fourth opus was long overdue. Expendables 3 released in 2014. And although it was the least successful episode according to the press and viewers, it still reported more than $ 214 million in international box office revenue. Enough to make Millenium Media want to produce a fourth film. It’s done ! We can’t wait for Sly and the whole gang to return.
