The MCU’s third feature film to be released in 2021, The Eternals will look back on the absence of its heroes in the battles of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame and will mark a turning point in this universe according to its director, Chloe Zhao.
Between Shang-Chi and the legend of the Ten Rings, currently showing, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, expected on December 15, another Marvel film will land in theaters on November 3: The Eternals.
Directed by Oscar winner Chloé Zhao, this feature film will introduce a large number of new characters, so far little known to the general public. New faces embodied, among others, by Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek and Kumail Nanjiani to be counted on in the future of the MCU.
Interviewed by the magazine Total Film, who released 4 different covers featuring The Eternals, the filmmaker said:
I think our film works independently, that’s for sure. But I also think we’re going to have a really big impact on the future of the MCU with what happens in the movie.
And to admit: “Which, you know, as a fan, is very satisfying for me! My geek side is all excited about it.“
A REASON BEHIND THEIR ABSENCE AGAINST THANOS
Of course, the director didn’t say more. It will therefore be necessary to wait until the release of the Eternals to know which plot it refers to. But also to understand why his heroes did not intervene in the fight against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.
In the trailer for the feature film, Sersi (Gemma Chan) explains to Dane Whitman (Kit Harington) that she and her family have “ordered not to intervene in human conflicts unless Deviants are involved“. A sentence that will take on its full meaning when the spectators have seen the film.
“[Le public] will understand why. Not only why, but also how complicated it was for them not to intervene. We will explore it. You will see it in the movie“, thus indicates Chloe Zhao. Then to specify that it”there is a reason“behind this order that comes from”Arishem, the main Celestial“. What arouse the curiosity of fans!
After The Eternals, it is Peter Parker who will return to the cinema in a third solo adventure:
