Marvel has just released a new TV spot for “The Eternals”, their next production. The opportunity for viewers to learn more about these new characters and their purpose within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The Eternals : next run for Marvel Studios
After Black widow and Shang-Chi, MCU’s next movie is due on November 3 in dark rooms. Directed by Chloé Zhao, Oscar winner for her film on Nomadland, The Eternals is tasked with bringing a whole new team to the MCU. In particular worn by Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kit Harington and Salma Hayek, the feature film will tell the fate of this ancient race of human beings, who have been living on Earth for centuries now. Capable of manipulating cosmic energy, they were created by the Celestials in order to protect the Earth from their evil counterparts: the Deviants.
Initially, The Eternals were imagined by Jack Kirby in 1976. Led by Thena (thanos cousin) and Ikaris; this large family with colossal power, has been fighting since the dawn of time against the Deviants (of which Thanos is part in the comics). Very soon after their creation by the Celestials, the Eternals established their own society, isolated from the Deviants. On Earth, they notably built a city in Asia, Titanos, which served them both as a home and a fortress. Due to the cosmic energy that runs through their bodies, the Eternals are practically immortal. While they do not age, they are capable of living for entire millennia. They are immune to any disease, and to conventional weapons.
New explosive images
Marvel Studios just released a 30-second preview to accompany the future release of The Eternals. The opportunity for spectators to see the Deviants in action. These are visibly materialized by disturbing monsters of impressive power. Interestingly, it looks like the Eternals have come out of the shadows, and become media known superheroes, like the Avengers. This video allows you to take a more precise look at Thena, played by Angeline Jolie. She is obviously at the head of the team.
Ikaris also brings a comic element, hallmark of the MCU, when a child tells him about his cape. The hero then replies that he is not wearing a cape. Kit Harington as the Dark Knight briefly appears, while the action sequences promise to be explosive:
