At the end of the seventh episode of “The BoysSeason 3 has a big twist: Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and Homelander (Antony Starr) are father and son! Soldier Boy realizes this after Mindstorm (Ryan Blakely) tells him that Vought gave the green light to the members of Payback to take out Soldier Boy and then whispers something inaudible to him afterwards. So he puts one and one together.
But is the twist all that surprising – or is it simply very consistent? Because like our YouTube moderator and “The Boys“Expert Sebastian Gerdshikow shows with justifiable pride in his video for episode 3.7 that he predicted the surprising twist after the first three episodes. At the time, he speculated that Homelander could be a clone of Soldier Boy or a baby conceived with his DNA.
In the “The Boys’ comics has a similar twist: Black Noir turns out to be an identical-looking clone of Homelander. But that’s just not possible in the series because Black Noir is black here. Still, there’s sort of a precedent in the comics – and it just takes a little rethinking for the series.
Because the father-son twist also just fits with the changes to the Soldier Boy character. In the series, he is the direct predecessor of Homelander in almost every respect: the leader of a superhero team (just Payback instead of The Seven), the most powerful hero of his time and also a ruthless psychopath. The similarities between the two even extend to their costumes, with the stars and stripes and eagle heads.
In the comics, on the other hand, Soldier Boy is quite a coward and anything but a Homelander counterpart. So here it was indicated early on where the super rabbit is running.
And then of course there is Vogelbaum, which is mentioned again at the end of ep. 3.7: Jonah VogelbaumJohn Doman became in the first two seasons “The Boys’ introduced as one of the Vought employees who had a hand in the birth of Homelander’s son Ryan (Cameron Crovetti).

But not only that: Vogelbaum was also the scientist who created Homelander himself and acted as a kind of foster father for him. That the “The Boys” officials would eventually reveal who Homelander’s biological parents are and why he is so much stronger than most other supes is only logical.
For example, it could turn out that Ryan is not the first Supe who was born with superpowers, but possibly already Homelander – or that his outstanding powers result from the fact that his father was a Supe.
In any case, we are now very excited for episode 8 of “The BoysSeason 3. The finale will be released on Amazon Prime Video on July 8, 2022. And fortunately, a fourth season has already been announced:
