In August 2022, the at times romantic and otherwise consistently toxic love story of “After” couple Tessa and Hardin will come to an end in cinemas. Here’s the new trailer for After Forever:
Hardin (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) comes to terms with the fact that he now knows who his father really is, and Tessa (Josephine Langford) has her own problems in After Forever. Nevertheless, in the fourth film in the young adult book series, everything revolves around the relationship of the couple who met at college.
The previous three films weren’t enough to clarify whether this connection was a good idea, and although by the third film, “After Love” at the latest, the strong impression was that there was absolutely nothing substantially new to tell about Tessa and Hardin, the story only ends in “After Forever”.
“After Forever” will be released in German cinemas on August 25, 2022, just one year after “After Love”. Both films were shot in one go and it looks like the journey has come to an end for the leading duo Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Josephine Langford. While two other Afterverse films are planned – a Hardin prequel and a Next Generation film – Fiennes Tiffin and Langford will not be involved.
Also, at this point in time, it is questionable whether these new films will really come. It was originally reported that filming was set to begin in the fall of 2021, but that didn’t happen. The reaction to “After Love” could be to blame.
The worldwide cinema receipts fell by half compared to part 2 and part 3 was also received significantly worse by the audience than its predecessor. We can understand that. While “After Truth” was the highlight of the previous films with at least 2.5 stars, “After Love” went downhill significantly.
