TF1 viewers have discovered the fiction “Le Mystère Daval” which looks back on the terrible criminal case concerning the murder of Alexia Daval. The TV movie made the Web react, and especially Martine Henry, the mother of the culprit Jonathann Daval.
The Daval Mystery : TF1 seizes the news item
TF1 offered this Monday, September 12 the TV movie, in two parts, The Daval Mystery. The fiction returns to the criminal case Alexia Daval. As a reminder, two days after her disappearance, the young woman was found dead on October 30, 2017. After showing the face ofa grieving widower for three months, alongside her parents-in-law, Jonathann Daval, Alexia’s husband, was arrested and placed in police custody. This terrible story had stirred all of France and the parents of the young woman subsequently testified many times their distress in the media.
Based on the book The Alexia Daval Affair – The real story by Laurent Briot and Christophe Dubois, fiction returns to the terrible facts changing some details. Indeed, legally, the agreement of families or persons involved in a criminal case is not required by law. Fictions are obviously protected legally, by changing certain aspects such as the places or the names of the characters. In The Daval Mystery the production has chosen to keep the real names, except for Martine Henry, the culprit’s mother, who is called Martine Cussey. In the casting, we find Michèle Bernier, Jérôme Anger, Liam Baty, Maud Baecker, Vanessa Guide and Thierry Neuvic.

The broadcast of this TV movie once again stirs up the terrible Alexia Daval affair and a good number of people have expressed their dissatisfaction, in particular the inhabitants of Gray, the theater of this highly publicized case. But that’s not all, Martine Henry, Jonathann’s mother is very upset against fiction. The latter is tired of seeing this terrible story exposed once again in the media, moreover she believes that justice has done its job. She explains that she was totally opposed to fiction:
But it’s useless, the case is in the public domain. We didn’t want it to happen, but we had no choice. It’s going to stir everything up again, we don’t need that. It must be said that it hurts families.
The mother of the culprit wishes to be quiet once and for all:
I would like to be rid of all that, that we don’t talk about it anymore. All those who make their sentences for very serious things like Jonathann, they must be left alone. The more we talk about their business, the more it hurts them in prison.
Very annoyed by the programs that talk about her son, she still made the choice to testify in Daval case: the secrets of police custody, the documentary which was broadcast just after the TV movie from TF1. As for Isabelle Fouillot and Jean-Pierre Fouillot, the parents of Alexia Daval, they also agreed to participate in the report. The couple’s lawyer, spoke in the magazine Marianne:
They would have preferred that the film not be made and told TF1 about it. They want to turn the page and did not want to be associated with it. Their absence reflects this desire” the couple’s lawyer.
