After “Une Affaire Française”, TF1 will adapt the Daval affair in the form of a 90-minute fiction with Liam Baty, Maud Baecker, Michel Bernier and Thierry Neuvic.
After Une Affaire Française, whose season 1 focused on the assassination of little Gregory, TF1 will soon embark on the adaptation of a new news item: that of the murder of Alexia Daval. This unitary, entitled Le mystère Daval, will return, as its name suggests, to this affair which held the French in suspense for many months.
A little flashback: we are in 2017. Two days after her disappearance, 25-year-old Alexia Daval is found dead. After publicly mourning the death of his wife during a silent march, Jonathann Daval is taken into custody.
He then admits having “accidentally” killed his wife before retracting. It was not until several months later that he finally confessed his crime and admitted having tried to set the body of his victim on fire.
The shooting of this new fiction, which will return to the case of the discovery of the body of the young woman in the confession of her husband, begins this Monday, December 13 around Lyon. Loosely based on the book “L’affaire Alexia Daval – the true story” by Laurent Briot and Christophe Dubois, Le mystère Daval is written by Emmanuelle Rey-Magnan and Pascal Fontanille, the creators of Clem, and directed by Christophe Lamotte (Une Affaire Française ).
And to play the Daval couple, TF1 called on two actors well known to viewers of the channel. Jonathann Daval will be played by Liam Baty, whom you may have discovered in Tomorrow belongs to us.
For the occasion, he will give the reply to one of his co-stars of the soap opera since it is Maud Baecker who will lend her features to Alexia. Michèle Bernier will slip into the skin of Isabelle Fouillot, the mother of the victim, while Jérôme Anger will play Jean-Pierre Fouillot. Finally Thierry Neuvic (I lied) will be Captain Dacosta, the police officer in charge of the investigation while Vanessa Guide will camp Magali Paulin.
The official pitch: Saturday 28 October 2017, 12:10 pm. Two men land in panic at Gray’s gendarmerie. Jonathann Daval, accompanied by his brother-in-law, comes to report the disappearance of his wife, Alexia. She went for a jog in the morning and did not come back.
What happened to him? … For 3 months, the gendarmes will carry out an implacable, exemplary investigation, as discreetly as possible, to collect evidence, then make confess the one they believe is not telling everything : Jonathann.
Note that this unit has no link with the series project announced a few months ago by Gaumont studios. Composed of 6 episodes, it should retrace Alexia Daval’s journey from her meeting with Jonathann to her death 13 years later.
