The remake of “The Crow”, with Jason Momoa, that we will never see, offers unprecedented shots. Indeed, photographs of the actor in the skin of the superhero have leaked on the web, giving an overview of the canceled project.
The Crow : the Brandon Lee tragedy
In 1994, the filmmaker Alex Proyas (who distinguished himself years later with I, Robot), stages The Crow, his very first film. Worn by Brandon Lee, the feature film focuses on an atypical superhero, little known to the general public, adapted from the eponymous graphic novel by James O’Barr. While it is not from large firms like Marvel or DC, The Crow tells the story of a broken man, brought back to life by a crow, and ready to do anything to avenge the death of his wife. With only $ 50 million in box office revenue, The Crow mostly talked about him because of a terrible accident.
Indeed, at the very end of the feature film (sorry for those who have not yet seen the film), the anti-hero The Crow, played by Brandon Lee therefore, receives a bullet from one of his enemies. Unfortunately for Bruce Lee’s son, the weapon that was used to shoot the scene was actually loaded. The actor then received a real bullet in the stomach, and succumbed to his injuries within hours. A terrible story that led to the death of Brandon Lee, and which necessarily echoes the tragedy that recently occurred on the set of Rust.
The remake we’ll never see
Few years ago, a remake of The Crow was made official under the direction of director Corin Hardy, the director of The Nun and of The sanctuary. To succeed Brandon Lee, actor Jason Momoa, who already plays the superhero Aquaman at DC Comics, had been hired to be the new face of the crow man. Unfortunately, the project stalled, and Jason Momoa ended up abandoning the adventure, closely followed by Corin Hardy. Sony was even supposed to launch the shooting of the film on September 11, 2019. But because of strong creative differences between Davis Film (who owns the film rights to the character) and Sony, the project quickly got off the ground. Not having been able to reach an agreement, development quickly stopped …
However, a series of photographs appeared on Twitter, revealing the comedian in the skin of the anti-hero. An unrecognizable, make-up Jason Momoa, who at times reminds Joaquin Phoenix in the skin of the Joker. One way to see what this project could have looked like, which we will never see:
