FILM STARS. Gregoire Ludig and David Marsais are back at the cinema for the new Palmashow film, “Les Vedettes”. What did the critics think?
the critics’ opinion on the new Palmashow film
[Mis à jour le 9 février 2022 à 9h07] six years later The crazy story of Max and Leonthe Palmashow is back as a duo on screen in The stars. This comedy film is part of the theatrical releases of February 9, 2022. Unlike mandibles feature film by Quentin Dupieux in which we find the comedy duo formed by Grégoire Ludig and David Marsais, The stars were written by the two comedians and directed by their sidekick, Jonathan Barré. And the critics are generally won over by this new Palmashow proposal.
On the aggregator generated by Allociné, listing 13 reviews for the film, The stars earns a score of 3.4/5. The specialist magazine Cinémateaser is one of the conquered, hailing a “social comedy, funny and bitter, about two losers in search of recognition. Brilliant and terribly endearing.”
The press praises the central duo of Featured, “funny and endearing” (Le Figaro) but also of the quality of this “satire of mass distribution and game shows” (Le Monde). For Le Parisien, it’s faultless: “The duo Grégoire Ludig-David Marsais succeeds in a second hilarious, tender and critical film on the world of TV and overconsumption.” As conquered as the others, Première deplores “a single downside: the realization which, for once, struggles to get out of the nails of the Palmashow as invited to do so more spontaneously The Mad Adventure of Max and Léon”.
An observation shared by Le Journal du Dimanche (“the staging lacks inventiveness to support the rhythm of the comedy”). Palmashow fans can already rush to the cinema.
