South park : a sacred story
It all started in 1997, when Trey Parker and Matt Stone write and direct the very first episode of the animated series South park. Corrosive, critical, irreverent, rude, it has captivated millions of fans for over twenty years, and remains a classic of animated series for adults today. Currently made up of 23 seasons, one film and three special episodes, the series continues to seduce entire generations of fans. And this great adventure does not seem to be coming to an end …
A mind-blowing agreement!
Trey Parker and Matt Stone just signed a monstrous deal with MTV Entertainment Studios, which will last until 2027. This agreement includes the production and realization of 14 new South Park movies, the distribution of which will be reserved for the future Paramount + platform. 14 films! Just that. The duo will thus have to deliver two films per year on the platform, and this, from this year. The deal in question also renews the series South park until season 30. As for the price of this union, it amounts to 900 million dollars!
According to Chris McCarthy, head of entertainment at Paramount Pictures, the company will also be working with Trey Parker and Matt Stone on new original content.
These new films will therefore be broadcast exclusively on Paramount +. A historic decision since the programs South park have always been featured on Comedy Central. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Trey Parker and Matt Stone have not released a new season of their cult series. They contented themselves with offering fans two special episodes of one hour each. Trey Parker and Matt Stone have spoken about this new deal:
We can’t wait to pick up traditional South Park episodes, but now we can try new formats as well. It’s great to have partners who will always try their luck with us.
Lovers of South parkso your future will be bright. Trey Parker and Matt Stone also made the headlines recently, for a whole different story. Indeed, the two friends have decided to buy Casa Bonita. This is a famous restaurant, which was at the center of a cult episode of the series, led by Cartman.
