New judicial series broadcast on France 2, “The Code” counts in its distribution Daniel Njo Lobé. An actor with a somewhat atypical career. We tell you everything.
The code : to the bar!
The last emblematic judicial series broadcast on France 2 was Lawyers and Partners, who had 13 seasons between 1998 and 2010. As saying that The code passes after a big televised piece of the French serial production. However, the show can count on a former screenwriter fromLawyers and Partners : Lionel Olenga. Indeed, this lover of American police and judicial series has been collaborating with France 2 for more than 10 years. Co-creator ofCriminal Footprints (which aired between March and April 2011), he especially rose to fame when he launched his new series in 2013: Cherif.
Thus, during 6 seasons, this detective series has stood out those usually produced in France for a number of years. France 2 therefore trusted him again by ordering his new series The code. The latter also had very good feedback during the last edition of the Festival Series Mania.
The code So follows Idriss Toma, a Parisian lawyer, well known for only defending the rich and the powerful. However, an attempted murder and a burst of an inoperable bullet (which can be fatal to him at any time) make him change lanes. He returned to Lille, determined to help to those who do not have the power to defend themselves. He will be helped in his task by Nadia Ayad, a determined lawyer as well as Jeanne Vanhoven, a former glory of the bar.
Who are you, Daniel?
To carry this new series, it is the actor Daniel Njo Lobé who was chosen.
This 46-year-old French actor has a long and relatively unknown career. Beginner on boards from the 2000s, he then alternates between cinema and television in very secondary roles, even anecdotal. He is seen briefly in American films like Sahara, when he does not accumulate appearances in series such as More beautiful life, Engrenages or even Marseilles. Lately, we could see him in the series Astrid and Raphaëlle also broadcast on France 2.
However, it is especially his voice that is recognizable for fans of dubbing. Indeed, the actor is very active to regularly dub many black actors such as Harold Perrineau Jr. (in Lost or the saga Matrix), Idris Elba (in The jungle Book and Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw) or even Forest Whitaker (in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). Note that he is also the regular French voice of the superhero Cyborg in almost all of the DC productions where the character is found.
The code therefore allows the actor to finally appear in the foreground in a major production. His performance also marked the Jury of the Festival Series Mania sincehe received the Best Actor Award. If the series has several seasons, this could therefore definitely launch the career of Daniel Njo Lobé. Better late than never, as the saying goes …
The code will debut on France 2 on December 1st.
