The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special : the new Marvel Studios Special Presentation
After directing the first two parts of the saga Guardians of the Galaxy, James Gunn is back behind the camera to direct The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. expected on next November 25 on Disney+this film by 40 minutes is a new proposal Marvel Studios Special Presentation. The second to be released in this format, after the recent Werewolf by Night.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is a short Guardians of the Galaxy adventure that takes place after the events ofAvengers :Endgame, during the Christmas period. Star Lord is still saddened by Gamora’s passing. To cheer him up, the rest of the team decides to organize a trip to Earth during the holiday season.
A first trailer
Even if the film only lasts 40 minutes, the whole team is there. Chris Pratt (Star Lord), Dave Bautista (Drax), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Vin Diesel (Groot), Bradley Cooper (Rocket) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin) all resume their respective roles for a side adventure that promises to be quirky and endearing.

Unsurprisingly, the first trailer focuses the tone of the production on mainstream comedy. The narrative seems to focus mostly on Drax and Mantis who are looking for a gift for their friend Star Lord. The two Guardians are going to Hollywood to track down actor Kevin Bacon. The latter, well present in the cast, will play its own role and will attempt to escape the Guardians of the Galaxy. A rather funny joke that echoes Avengers : Infinity Warin which Star Lord evokes his adoration for Kevin Bacon.
It’s hard to know if The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will have any bearing on the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Maybe Gamora will make a comeback in this short film. In any case, a certain Michael Rooker is also set to appear in the film, back as Yondu, certainly within flashbacks. Appointment on November 25, 2022 on Disney+ to find out.
