While season 2 of “The Bridgerton Chronicle” is a hit on Netflix, fans are wondering about the future of the series. And the actors too! Part of the cast expressed their theories and desires for the sequel.
The Bridgerton Chronicle: the series is far from over
After the success of the first season centered on Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page), Netflix logically gave the green light to a second season for The Bridgerton Chronicle. Available on March 25, the eight new episodes focus on Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and his tumultuous relationship with Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), a newcomer to British high society welcomed in London by Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh ) with his mother Mary (Shelley Conn) and little sister Edwina (Charithra Chandran).
Now that this second season based on the works of Julia Quinn is over, it’s time to wonder about the sequel. Netflix already has confirmed the start of a third and fourth season, in addition to a spin-off on Queen Charlotte. As reminded by HollywoodReporter, each volume of the novel focuses on the development of one of the eight children of the Bridgerton family. But for the moment, the streaming giant has not specified whether the program created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes intends to follow the frame of the books or deviate from it.
WARNING, the following lines contain spoilers!
Furthermore, the return of Anthony and Katenewly married after many adventures, is already confirmed. And if their television future is not yet defined, the cast already has its few ideas and desires for future episodes.
A bright future for Kate and Anthony?
While Simone Ashley says she’s “super excited” to return in Season 3, Jonathan Bailey hopes the newlyweds can share more joyful moments. Nevertheless, he warns:
But there are going to be complications. They are not simple people. I know they will be united, that he will be completely devoted to her, and I am excited to explore that.
For her part, Charithra Chandran would love Edwina finds love after her sentimental disillusionment in season 2. But before that, the young woman must still get to know herself according to her interpreter.
A possible love for Penelope and Colin?
During the second season finale, Eloise “The Bridgerton” (Claudia Jessie) also learns that Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) hides behind the identity of Lady Whistledown. A discovery that puts an end to their friendship. For Nicola Coughlan, Penelope has become a bit arrogant. The actress is therefore extremely “curious” to see how the queen of social events will behave now that she has lost everything since she also heard Colin Bridgerton making fun of her.
A protagonist that actor Luke Newton wants to defend despite his mistakes. He is also convinced that the young man would be very angry if he understood that Penelope listened to him say bad things about her. As for their possible love story he adds :
I think the groundwork has been laid for that. (…) Maybe these two best friends will hopefully fall in love.
The comedian is also eager to see Colin’s reaction when he realizes that Lady Whistledown and Penelope are the same people:
Will he accept that he has been lied to for many years?
Finally, Claudia Jessie would like Eloise to be more dedicated to her feminist commitments and take a “political” turn. She says about this:
This is the person you want to see do this, isn’t it? Explore different thoughts, different ideas, different parts of society…
To find out, it is now necessary to wait.
