The creator of “The Chronicle of the Bridgertons” Shonda Rhimes has showered any hope that Regé-Jean Page could return in a new season of the historic Netflix series.
He may be chosen to succeed Daniel Craig as James Bond, but Regé-Jean Page will not return in The Chronicle of the Bridgertons nonetheless. The British-Zimbabwean actor, revealed by the first season of the Netflix series, had however recently hinted that a return to the historical soap opera was not to be ruled out.
But series producer Shonda Rhimes has finally revealed that a return of the Duke of Hastings is not on the cards for the next seasons of the show. Questioned by our colleagues from Variety, the American screenwriter revealed to have discussed the subject with the actor, who politely declined the possibility of an appearance in a future episode.
Quite rightly, he said to me ‘I signed to shoot this charming story which ends with this season 1. I am finished!’ And I don’t blame him at all. I think it’s smart of him to leave a perfectly finished story as it is.
Adaptation of the eponymous novels by Julia Quinn, The Bridgerton Chronicle locates its action in the aristocratic society of 19th century Victorian England. Each season portrays a different couple, with the presence of recurring characters.
The second season of the series is expected on Netflix sometime next year. Note that seasons 3 and 4 have already been ordered by the platform!
