Omar Sy joins actor Lakeith Stanfield and director Jeymes Samuel for the film “The Book of Clarence”. After “The Harder They Fall”, the director therefore already has two stars in the cast of his second feature film, which he claims to be a film like we have rarely seen.
Jeymes Samuel is preparing his new film
After his first feature film and Netflix success The Harder They Fall, the jack-of-all-trades director Jeymes Samuel will soon launch production on his new film. A feature film that he still promises crazier and more ambitious than his African-American western. And this time, Jeymes Samuel goes back even further in time. This new project will indeed take place in the year 29 AD. Title The Book of Clarencethis film is presented by its author as a biblical epic, with Lakeith Stanfield in the role of Clarence.

This will be the second collaboration between Jeymes Samuel and Lakeith Stanfield after The Harder They Fall. The western also had and among others in its cast Idris Elba, Regina King, Zazie Beetz and Jonathan Majors. A royal cast, andThe Book of Clarence should also align stars. As revealed exclusively by Deadline, another internationally renowned actor just joined the project.
Omar Sy in a film “between Ben-Hur and Indiana Jones”
Omar Sy has become a world star after Untouchables and his appearances in American blockbusters. A status he cemented with the series Lupine, Netflix’s biggest hit for a non-English series. Omar Sy is currently chaining projects, with the French film Skirmishers and the remake of The Killer directed by John Woo, who will therefore offer a new version of his 1989 success.

His role in The Book of Clarence is still unknown. But what is certain is that he will play in a production of a disproportionate scaleaccording to the statements of the director to Deadline.
You remember these biblical epics, whether directly about the Bible or just as a backdrop, from “The ten Commandments” at “The Greatest Story Ever Told”“Samson and Delilah” and “Ben Hur” ? That’s what will be”The Book of Clarence”, completely extravagant and fun. It’s written and ready to go into production.
The director, also a screenwriter, composer and producer of hip-hop, is accompanied by Shawn Carter aka JAY-Z producing. As was already the case for The Harder They Fall. He promises a show never before seen, with an introductory scene that he compares to that of The Raiders of the Lost Ark.
I want to give the same feeling that we have when watching for the first time the sequence of the rock which pursues Indiana Jones. I promise, for the opening scene, it’s something very original that I’m preparing, and I hope you swallow your popcorn and say, “I’ve never seen anything like that.”
