The 2nd International Diyarbakir Short Film Festival came to an end after full days of cinema.



Organized with the contributions of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the General Directorate of Cinema and with the partnership of Diyarbakır Governor’s Office and Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, the 2nd International Diyarbakır Short Film Festival came to an end after full days of cinema. Organized as part of the Sur Culture Road Festival and organized by Diyarbakır Culture, Art and Cinema Association (DİSİNEDER), the festival rekindled the passion for cinema in Diyarbakır. Festival enthusiasm was experienced with the film screenings and the following interviews, masterclass meetings and conversations with cinema professionals. The last day of the festival was not held due to the bitter news from Bartın. For this reason, while the festival’s award ceremony was cancelled, the films that were evaluated by the jury by participating in the competition within the scope of the festival were also shared with a written statement.
The second and third days of the festival were full
After the opening ceremony of the festival, the second day continued at Sezai Karakoç Culture and Congress Center with film screenings and interviews. After the screenings of the National Fiction and Documentary films, question-and-answer interviews were held with the film directors, moderated by the film critic Arzu Arda Değer.
Director Selman Nacar, who won awards from many festivals with his first film “Between Two Dawns”,First Film First Directing‘ was the guest of the interview. In the interview moderated by academician Zehra Yiğit, Nacar shared with the participants what he wondered about his adventure of directing and producing. Cinema critic Rıza Oylum said, “Short Film Culture in Iranian CinemaHe shared the details that are curious about Iranian Cinema with the participants in his interview on ”. TRT Cinema Director Faruk Güven said:Project Processes of TRT12 Punto Co-produced Films” was another guest of the festival as part of the talk. In the interview moderated by academician Perihan Taş Öz, Güven shared the curious details about the TRT supported film production process. The last interview on the second day was with the participation of the veteran manager of the famous actors, Tümay Özokur.Step by Step Acting“There was an interview. On the third day of the festival; It continued with the screenings of National Fiction, Documentary and International competition films in the cinema halls of Sezai Karakoç Culture and Congress Center. Likewise, film directors, film critics Arzu Arda Değer and Deniz Ali Tatar answered questions about their films. Director-producer Ramazan Kılıç, who won awards from many festivals with his short film “Service”, said:Short Film Making”, he talked about the process of creating, producing and distributing a short film. Director Banu Sıvacı, who won awards from many festivals with her first feature film “The Pigeon”, said:From Idea to Scenario From Script to Film” was the guest of the interview. In the interview moderated by the cinema critic and presenter Deniz Ali Tatar, Sıvacı shared the curious details about the production process of his first film, starting from the time he started to be a director. On the third day of Diyarbakir Short Film Festival, the guest of the actress Alican Yücesoy, “Acting in CinemaIt ended with an interview on ”. Film critic and presenter Deniz Ali Tatar was the moderator of the interview, which took place at the Cegerxwin Youth Culture and Art Center. Yücesoy, while sharing the path he started in acting and what he wonders about the process he has come to today; He also gave advice to the participants who wanted to act. Yücesoy, who shared details about “Little Things” in which she won awards from many festivals and took the lead role, and the short film “Stone” that she directed, gave an interview under intense interest and gave the participants colorful moments.
Award-winning short films announced
The award ceremony, which was planned to be held as part of the festival, was canceled due to the mining accident in Bartın. The award-winning films of the festival were presented to the festival followers with a written statement. 10 films in three different categories, namely National Short Fiction, National Short Documentary and International Short Film Competition, took part in the competition. The short films that applied to the festival and were selected for the main selection competed for a total of 15 award statuettes and a prize of 40 thousand TL. However, when there are two films in the same category, the awards are; 18 award statuettes and 42 thousand TL.
National Short Fiction the category in which the films compete; was evaluated by the jury consisting of director Ömür Atay, actor Alican Yücesoy, actor-director Görkem Yeltan, actor Erkan Avcı and actor Selin Yeninci. The ‘Best Film’ award in the fiction category, the winner of 5 awards in total, was directed by Recep Bozgöz.No need to fear me“The movie happened. National Short Documentary The category in which the films compete is; Mehmet Güleryüz, President of the Cinema and Television Work Owners Professional Association, journalist-writer Oya Doğan and Altın Koza Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors and Adana Golden Boll Film Festival General Coordinator İsmail Timuçin. In the documentary category, the ‘Best Documentary Film’ award, with the decision of the jury, was awarded to Muhammet Beyazdağ’s “Best Documentary Film”.Everything is fine” documentary was done. The reasoning of the jury is:Including the social layers of the story of a young girl, which has thousands of examples in our society; The Best Documentary Film Award was given to the film “Everything is on the Way” with its story of holding on to hope in the midst of poverty and desperation and effectively conveying the bond of love he established with nature.” was declared. Esra Güzel was the coordinator of the 2nd Diyarbakir International Short Film Festival, which was organized by the Diyarbakir Culture, Art and Cinema Association (DISINEDER) under the direction of director and producer Serhat Gonen. In addition, the successful actress İpek Tuzcuoğlu, who served as a member of the Board of the Ministry of Culture General Directorate of Cinema Support Board for two years as the representative of the professional association BİROY, and served as the representative of the Ministry of Culture as of 2022, undertook this year’s consultancy for the festival.
