To “Dune” comes not only “Dune 2” but also a spin-off series called “Dune: The Sisterhood”. And after the most important newcomers for “Dune 2” were announced, the first key personal details for the series have now been confirmed: Emily Watson (“Chernobyl”, “Red Dragon”) and Shirley Henderson (“Harry Potter”, “Star Wars 9”) and Indira Varma (“Game Of Thrones”, “Obi-Wan Kenobi”).
Emily Watson and Shirley Henderson have been committed for some time. Watson and Henderson will play sisters Valya Harkonnen and Tula Harkonnen. The name Harkonnen fans also know from the “Dune’ theatrical film, but while the Harkonnens act as antagonists to the heroic Atreides here, by the time the series took place (10,000 years before ‘Dune“!) nor the protagonists themselves.
According to the official announcement, the Harkonnen sisters are to face dark forces that threaten the future of mankind. They belong to the secret sisterhood (hence the title “Dune: The Sisterhood”), later known as the Bene Gesserit. The Bene Gesserit include Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) and Reverend Mother Mohiam (Charlotte Rampling) from “Dune“.
The newly signed Indira Varma will appear in “Dune: The Sisterhood” as Empress Natalyaan “impressive noblewoman who unites thousands of worlds through her marriage to Emperor Corrino,” according to the US trade magazine deadline called.

deadline also writes that the novel Sisterhood Of Dune’ (appeared in German as ‘Der Thron des Wüstenplanetens’) as a template for ‘Dune: The Sisterhood”. The information known so far indicates that it will probably be a free adaptation. At least it can be deduced from this which emperor must be meant here: namely Salvador Corrino.

In “Dune 2” we will then see a distant descendant of Salvador Corrino, namely in it Christopher Walken plays Emperor Shaddam IV, ruler of the known universe and head of House Corrino. “Dune: Part 2” will be released in US cinemas on November 3, 2023 (in Germany then probably on November 2nd). “Dune: The Sisterhood” will be coming to the US streaming service HBO Max, but has no launch date yet.
