In this episode, the first entirely dedicated to the mysterious life of Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt), we follow the mad night of Ted Lasso’s mutic assistant after their defeat in the semi-finals of the Cup. Between beers, VIP evening, forbidden seduction, night fight and racing in the rain, this night trip is not easy for the character, who also sees on several occasions a football show commenting on his own life and his setbacks at through the interventions of Thierry Henry and Gary Lineker.

Nominated for the Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series this Sunday (a trophy won by his partner, the brilliant Brett “Roy Kent” Goldstein), Brendan Hunt can therefore console himself with these cameos of two football legends and their exchanges by interposed televisions. We can bet that the process could be repeated in the Apple TV + show, making Thierry Henry a kind of personal Jiminy Cricket for Coach Beard … and the phrase “The farm, Thierry Henry” a ritornello likely to dethrone the “You don’t know anything, Jon Snow” of Game of Thrones in pop culture?

This small role in Ted lasso marks the third foray of Thierry Henry in a film or a series: he had already illustrated, each time in his own role, opposite Jamel Debbouze in H (A Rabbit Story, season 1 episode 19) and opposite Adrian Grenier and his gang in the feature film adapted from Entourage in 2015.
