The first images of “Suprêmes”, the biopic on the French rap group NTM, are finally here. Sony has just unveiled the very first trailer for the film directed by Audrey Estrougo.
NTM: an emblematic group
Suprême NTM is an iconic French rap group. Composed in particular of two rappers JoeyStarr and Kool Shen, the group became known in the early 1990s. Dissolved in 1998, it reformed in 2008 and briefly in 2018. The group is considered, with IAM, as the first French rap group to have marked French hip-hop. In particular thanks to a strong national reach and wide media coverage. Of course, French cinema, motivated by the success of the series Valid, decided to produce a biopic focused on the duo. Supreme is expected on November 24 in cinemas, and now has its trailer.
The biopic event Supreme unfolds
Directed by Audrey Estrougo (La Taularde, A trivial story), Supreme takes place in 1989, for the very first steps of NTM. While the hip hop movement has just landed in France, Didier Morville and Bruno Lopes decide to become JoeyStarr and Kool Shen.
In the main roles it is young people Théo Christine and Sandor Funtek who lend their faces to the two music stars. The first was illustrated in the series The Last Wave. Recently he was showing Boy Cloth by Nicolas Maury, but also in How I became a superhero on Netflix. As for the second, it was revealed in The Life of Adele, before appearing in Dheepan or Worship.
The first images promise a film faithful to the energy of the group. But also to their frenzied rhythms, their committed lyrics and their ideology. Fortunately, the feature film benefited from the advice of the two rappers in person, who came to support the two actors.
While waiting for the release of the film, we leave you with this trailer to discover in an article.
