Disney Plus, as part of phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in her own solo series, Ms. Marvel has released its first official trailer. New talent Iman Vellani plays Kamala Khan, an ordinary teenager from Jersey City who writes his own fanfiction (mostly about his idol, Captain Marvel), who eventually finds himself under the influence of unexpected forces.
The six-episode series is scheduled to air on Disney Plus on June 8. The first trailer gives us a revealing crash course in the mind of Kamala Khan, who spends most of her time hanging around, dreaming of becoming her favorite superhero or falling in love with a boy she loves in private. Of course, when Kamala decides she needs to get back to reality, she falls under the influence of incredible powers. However, its origins seem to have been slightly altered from the comics, with Kamala appearing to be able to create and use energy rather than changing her size or stretching her limbs.
Production of the Disney Plus series ended in May 2021, and earlier that month Kamala’s official Ms. With the “S” in the Marvel logo, it has received exciting confirmation that it will appear in The Marvels, the sequel to Captain Marvel. In addition to Carol Danvers, played by Brie Larson in the superhero sequel, another Marvel will feature Teyonah Parris Monica Rambeau, who debuted on the Disney Plus show WandaVision last year.
In addition to Vellani, the cast includes Aramis Knight as Kareem/Red Dagger, Saagar Shaikh as Kamala’s older brother Amir, Matt Lintz as Kamala’s best friend Bruno Carrelli, Rish Shah as Kamran, Laurel Marsden as Zoe Zimmer, and Zenobia Shroff as Kamala’s parents and Mohan Kapur, while Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer, Nimra Bucha, Alyy Khan, and Alysia Reiner have appeared in currently unknown roles. The season’s directors were Adil El Arbi, Bilall Fallah, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Meera Menon. Ms. Marvel will premiere on Disney Plus on June 8 with a total of six episodes.
