It’s progressing for the animated film “Super Mario”. The voice casting has just been announced as well as a theatrical release date. The feature film will be available for viewing at the end of 2022.
From game to movie
It was in 1985 that the first game featuring Mario was released: Super mario bros. We discovered a mustached little man in blue overalls and a red hat who was to save Princess Peach from the terrible Brower. Since then, the saga is one of the most popular in the video game world. Countless derivative games were born and the character became a figure anchored in the collective unconscious. Logically the cinema was interested in the character and in 1993 the film was made Super mario bros. with Bob Hoskins as Mario and John Leguizamo to play his brother Luigi. Obviously, this film is far from a masterpiece. And we waited for a long time for an adaptation worthy of the name to come out on the screens.
Voices known for Super Mario
This could soon be the case with the next Animation Film Super Mario. Produced by Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment, the project has been announced for several years now. And things accelerated as production finally revealed the voice casting.
The hero will therefore have the voice of Chris Pratt while his brother Luigi will be played by Charlie Day and Princess Peach by the reveal of the series The Lady’s Game, Anya Taylor-Joy.
On the side of the wicked, the incomparable Jack Black will be Browser and Seth Rogen will be Donkey Kong. In addition, Keegan-Michael Key, accustomed to animated films, will be Todd, while Kevin Michael Richardson will lend his voice to Kamek, Fred Armisen will play Cranky Kong and Sebastian Maniscalco will be Spike. At last, Charles Martinet, official voice of Mario, will be present in a still unknown role. The actors chosen for the French version are also unknown
The film will be to discover at the end of 2022. Nintendo America account says it’s coming to theaters across North America December 21. In France, there is no date yet. But we can expect an exit close to this date.
