A full 13 years after the debut “Orphan – The Orphan” starts with “Orphan 2: First Kill” on September 8, 2022, a prequel to the horror shocker in the cinemas. So even though First Kill isn’t a direct sequel but a prequel, it definitely doesn’t hurt to be familiar with the murderous Esther’s (Isabelle Fuhrman) first appearance on screen, especially since her screen comeback also has the mega -Twist of the original spoiled. But apart from that, we can only warmly recommend this exciting little genre highlight (just like the prequel, by the way).
Unfortunately, the first “Orphan” is currently not included in any streaming subscription, but can only be purchased as VoD or on DVD and Blu-ray:
» “Orphan” as VoD at Amazon*
» “Orphan” on Blu-ray & DVD at Amazon*
It is all the better that a special live event will now remedy the situation just in time for the theatrical release of part 2 – at least on one evening: On September 6, 2022, “Orphan” will be shown in full from 10 p.m. on the streaming platform Twitch.
The whole thing takes place as part of a watch party on the channels of the wide-ranging streamers unsympathischTV and HoneyPuu. Their community will therefore also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with each other before and probably also during the film viewing. And as an additional treat, there is Afterwards on Twitch you can exclusively see the first eight minutes of “Orphan: First Kill” in advance.
Not least because of the serious alcohol problems of the mother (Vera Farmiga), the house blessing in the Coleman family of four is very crooked. The adoption of another child should bring the hoped-for new beginning and with the bright Esther the Colemans seem to have found the perfect addition to their family. But soon the mysterious incidents in Esther’s environment accumulate, with which something obviously doesn’t seem right…
In “Orphan: First Kill” we now see how little Esther (also after 13 years played again by the now 25-year-old Isabelle Fuhrman!) Before her time with the Colemans, she was already with another unsuspecting family (including Julia Stiles) sneaks in by posing as their daughter, who disappeared years ago. Here, too, horrible occurrences follow…
