Almost three months have passed since “Top Gun 2: Maverick” started its triumphal march through the worldwide cinemas – and there is still no end in sight. Because the sequel to Tony Scott’s cult classic “Top Gun“ is not only one of the most discussed films of the year by the trade press, but has also become the undisputed favorite of the public since the end of May. The film currently holds an incredible gross of 1.379 billion US dollars, which not only makes it by far the most successful film of 2022, but also the biggest hit in Tom Cruise’s career. And soon one or the other million more will be added to home cinema…
From August 23, 2022 there will be “Top Gun: Maverick“ to buy digitallywith the usual streaming providers such as Amazon Prime Video*. You can then rent the film as video-on-demand from September 22nd. Only those who want to put the film on the shelf have to wait a little longer (November 3rd) – but will then be rewarded with several noble editions, which you can pre-order now:

You can also get the film in another steelbook version in 4K exclusively from Amazon. This also comes with a so-called lenticular (= wiggling image) on the front cover and will only be available from the shipping giant.
If you haven’t seen the film in the cinema yet, you could of course easily argue that you can catch up on it at home in just a few days. Especially in the case of “Top Gun: MaverickHowever, film fans make a big mistake if they save it for home cinema. Then “Top Gun 2” is made for the biggest screen and the best sound system you can find. If the latest stroke of genius by science fiction ace Joseph Kosinski (“Oblivion”, “Tron: Legacy”) is still running in a cinema near you, give yourself a jerk and buy a ticket. You can expect nothing less than what is probably the most gripping, spectacular action film of the year.
In the DashFUN review, author Björn Becher praises the immersive action in particular and finds clear words for “some of the most impressive action scenes of the year”: “Sometimes you are literally pushed into the cinema seat yourself and mean the forces that are affecting the pilot* have an effect on the inside, you can feel it on your own body. Great cinema.” In the end there was a strong 4 out of 5 possible stars and a clear recommendation for all friends of thrilling bombast cinema.
