A total of nine “Spider-Man” cinema adventures have now been released under Sony’s leadership – several of which are absolute highlights in the field of comic adaptations. For us, however, none of the real films are at the top, but the insane animated adventure “Spider-Man: A New Universe”, which in 2018 was a spider’s web before Sam Raimi’s equally grandiose “Spider-Man 2” (both got on DashFUN 4.5 out of 5 stars) could swing.
With its stunning style, bombastic action, and playful multiverse story full of wit and heart (which also kind of pioneered “Spider-Man: No Way Home” was) The well-deserved Oscar-winning crowd favorite simply offers the ultimate Spidey movie experience, especially for fans of the friendly neighborhood spider.
So if you have the slightest interest in comic book movies and haven’t seen “A New Universe” yet, you should do so as soon as possible, especially since “Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse” and “Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse” expect two sequels soon. Among other things, this is still possible for Amazon Prime customers at no extra charge – but only for a very (!) short time.
“Spider-Man: A New Universe” is included in the Prime Video subscription up to and including September 30, 2022. Fortunately, there are several streaming alternatives. So there is “Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse” (the original English title of the film) currently also on Netflix, Disney + and Joyn PLUS +:
» “Spider-Man: A New Universe” in streaming subscription: Netflix / Disney+* / Joyn PLUS+*
Like Peter Parker aka Spider-Man (original voice: Chris Pine), the teenager Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) is bitten by a radioactive spider one day. Before Miles can come to terms with his newly awakening powers, however, he has to watch as Peter is killed by the Kingpin (Liev Schreiber) – who also briefly opens a portal to other dimensions.
A little later, Miles not only meets a wrecked Peter (Jake Johnson) from a parallel world, who takes him under his wing, but also some other alternative spider men and women. Together, the Spideys declare war on Kingpin and his minions to save the multiverse and return to their respective homes.
