When I think of the ultimate Dwayne Johnson action film, I always think of sweaty DSS agent Luke Hobbs chasing after the Toretto crew in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, ramming everything out of the way or beats whatever opposes him. “Fast & Furious Five” has brought the action saga, which had drifted in all possible directions in parts 1 to 4, back on course with its focus on testosterone-laden and petrol-soaked action bombast. Since then, the series has been racing towards the spectacle.
“Higher, faster, further” is the motto – and we have Fast Five to thank for that, which includes some highlights with the start of the rivalry of Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto and Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and his insane vault heist. But not only this film will soon disappear from the Prime subscription. Amazon is kicking the “Fast & Furious” saga out of its streaming service plan on October 15, 2022. So you only have up to and including Friday to watch parts 1 to 7, which were previously available on Amazon Prime Video at no additional cost.

Time is pressing and to really catch up on all seven films by the deadline, you have to turn on the turbo. However, it is not even necessary to do the entire series. “2 Fast 2 Furious” has at best oddity value and “Fast & Furious 4” is forgettable average action. Much better are the still very grounded debut film “The Fast And The Furious”, which is as much a crime drama as it is an action film, the underestimated “Tokyo Drift” in my opinion, which with its unique atmosphere and the presence of fan favorite Han ( Sung Kang) is convincing, as well as parts 5 to 7, which increasingly devote themselves to unbridled action madness and, in addition to Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, also have Dwayne Johnson to offer.
“Fast & Furious 7” only works on an emotional level if you know all the predecessors with the late Paul Walker, from whom the series said goodbye with part 7. If you’re just looking for a super fun action blockbuster starring Dwayne Johnson that also works on its own then Fast & Furious 5 is the most worthwhile one.
