“State Scandal Investigation” features its exceptional cast and a tense vibe in a first trailer. In theaters in early February 2022, Thierry de Peretti’s film will develop an investigative account of a state scandal, freely adapted from real facts.
A dazzling cast for the new film by Thierry de Peretti
It is an already special film that we will be able to discover on screens on February 9, 2022. Its author Thierry de Peretti has indeed a career as rich as it is discreet. Essentially an actor, comedian and theater director, born in Ajaccio in 1970, Thierry de Peretti seems to choose his projects and subjects with great care. For these first two feature films, The Apaches and A violent life, both very noticed, he places his action in Corsica and is inspired by real events. If he is versed in fiction, his stories always have a particular resonance with facts of society, and are very often inspired by them. This is still the case for his new film, State scandal investigation, in which he directs Pio Marmaï, Roschdy Zem, Vincent Lindon and Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi.
An impressive cast where the characters of Roschdy Zem, former undercover cop, and Pio Marmaï, young journalist, will join forces. Their goal: to update a scandal involving a very high-ranking police officer, played by Vincent Lindon.
Police, drug trafficking and journalism
The synopsis ofState scandal investigation promises a film between the police investigation and the journalistic investigation: “October 2015. French customs seized seven tonnes of cannabis in the heart of the capital. The same day, a former drug infiltrator, Hubert Antoine, contacted Stéphane Vilner, a young journalist at Liberation. He claimed to be able to demonstrate the existence of state trafficking led by Jacques Billard, a high-ranking French police officer. At first suspicious, Stéphane ended up plunging into an investigation that would lead him to the darkest recesses of the Republic. “
The images offered by the trailer promise a tense atmosphere. They also suggest that appearances are deceptive. The film seems to center on the journalist’s journey, who will thus have to sort through the different versions to be sure to establish a truth. State scandal investigation is freely adapted from the book State trafficking: Investigation into the abuses of the fight against drugs. An investigation by journalist Emmanuel Fansten, formerly of Liberation, which was published in 2021.
