American actress Amandla Stenberg will star in the Star Wars series “The Acolyte”, expected on the Disney + platform in 2023.
According to our colleagues from Variety, American actress Amandla Stenberg will star in a new Star Wars series. Entitled The Acolyte, this spin-off will take place several centuries before the plot of the prelogy (Episodes I – II – III) in the last days of the High Republic, a period during which the Jedi Order extended its influence to the within the galactic republic.
Revealed in the film Colombiana in 2011 (she played the character of Zoe Saldana as a child), the young American actress then became known to the general public by appearing in the first two parts of the Hunger Games saga. Also in the main cast of the film Darkest Minds: Rebellion, Amandla Stenberg recently appeared in the feature film The Hate U Give which denounces racism and police violence in the United States.
As its name suggests, the series will follow the adventures of a young acolyte, a nickname given to the apprentices of the Sith masters (like the padawans for the Jedi). This will be the first time that a Star Wars production will follow a follower of the dark side of the Force as the main protagonist!
Designed by screenwriter Leslye Headland (Bachelorette), the series The Acolyte will start filming next year, for an exclusive broadcast on Disney + in 2023. Remember that nine other Star Wars projects are currently being developed, including the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and the third season of The Mandalorian!
